Phill MidwinterPhill Midwinter

A search engineer from the UK, Phill is a Director of Grant Midwinter where he manages Search and Web based technologies – occasionally finding the time to write a little code.

Philll has worked on projects for companies including Sony, Walmart, Jet2 and JPMorgan Private Bank. Although specialising in search he’s also held positions in design and web development.

Phill currently programs in PHP, C#(.NET 2), Python, SQL and a whole host of smaller, largely unused subspecies of languages and scripts. He’s entirely self taught and this means that unlike most programmers who spend months translating applications into languages they understand, he’d rather just learn a new one (the slight side effect of this being trying to find str_pos() in every new language).

If you’re interested in understanding how Phill’s search engine tech works then the best articles to read are below:

Unfortunately source code is not currently available, if you stick around you may see the occasional Alpha release you can play with.
